Military Medal 'At HOOGE, FRANCE on 20th September, 1917, during the advance through GLENCORSE WOOD, Pte. BOWRING carried out the duties of a Stretcher Bearer. Throughout the action he worked untiringly under heavy artillery fire and a barrage which appeared to be impassable, and although exhausted was always ready to assist in giving First Aid. His conduct throughout and great courage are deserving of great praise.'
