'On the 4th July, 1918, during the attack on HAMEL, Private STEINBERG maintained communication between Company and Battalion Headquarters throughout the whole operation, although continuously under heavy artillery fire. On two occasions his signal station was destroyed by enemy fire. obtaining further instruments, on each occasion he was successful in re-establishing his station. By his devotion to duty and utter disregard for his own personal safety he set an excellent example to the other members of his Section.'
