Military Cross 'During the attack on the Beaurevoir line, east of Peronne, on 3rd October 1918, about 150 of the enemy were forming up for a counter attack on the left flank of the battalion. Despite heavy machine gun fire, he, at the head of twelve men, attacked them, breaking up the counter attack, and capturing 30 enemy and three machine guns. His prompt and very gallant action saved what might have been a serious position at a critical period of the attack.'
