'For conspicuously good work under heavy shell fire on all occasions. In particular for work on night of 4th/5th August, 1916, when in company with Sapper TUCKER he repaired telephone lines and restored communication at a critical time during the operations at POZIERES working for over two hours under intense shelling without any cover. This N.C.O. has already been rcommended for distinction on 16th June, 1916 and 9th August, 1916.'
