Military Medal 'On the 16th August 1917, during an attack the O.P. of the F.O.O. of the 14th Aust. F.A. Brigade came under very heavy enemy shell fire, and an almost constant barrage existed between the O.P. and cable head. No. 3903 Gunner V.E. STEWART, 114th Battery, who was a signaller with the F.O.O. went out continually into the barrage to repair the line. By his bravery and devotion to duty he set a fine example.'
