Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during rescue operations near Anzac, Gallipoli Peninsula, on 29th October, 1915, when he was one of the first party to enter the tunnel and bring out two men who were gassed at the mouth of the shaft, and rope two other men at the foot of the shaft.'
