Meritorious Service Medal 'Period 22nd September, 1917, to 24th February, 1918. During the operations in September, October and November, 1917, opposite the PASSCHENDAELE Sector this N.C.O. did excellent work. The Brigade Ammunition Column was extraordinarily heavily taxed during these operations and he frequently took charge of and assisted to control the ammunition carrying parties. He frequently displayed splendid courage notwithstanding very heavily shelling, his common sence and coolness saving the personnel while his disregard for personal danger and determination constantly resulted in the ammunition being brought through notwithstanding the barrage.'
