Distinguished Conduct Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry during the attack on Peronne, 2 September, 1918. When a heavy barrage of high explosive and gas caused casualties among the men this N.C.O. went back through the barrage and brought out two men to the dressing station. He then went to the outpost line and carried back more men to the dressing station.'

Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during a raid on enemy trenches near DERNANCOURT, South-West of ALBERT, on the night of June 19th/20th 1918. Lance Corporal BOXER was in charge of the stretcher-bearers. Although wounded early in the raid by an enemy stick bomb, he assisted to carry out the wounded under heavy shell fire. Later he returned to the enemy trench with another stretcher-bearer, searching for one of the raiding party who was wounded and missing. He set a fine example to his comrades.'
