Distinguished Conduct Medal

'For gallant conduct devotion to duty and fine leadership on the morning of 18 September, 1918, during an attack on Le Verguier. Though early wounded, he continued in command of his platoon. During the advance, he rushed a machine gun post, and succeeded in capturing the gun, killing two of the crew, and taking the remaining six prisoners.'
