Military Medal 'For gallant conduct and devotion to duty during the operations 5th April, 1918, between Lavieville and Dernancourt. This N.C.O. worked hard throughout the day and night, delivering Ammunition and Rations to the forward guns. Although he had to cross ground swept by Machine Gun and Rifle fire, and to cross through the barrage with his teams, he succeeded in delivering all the rations and Ammunition. His work was undoubtedly the means of keeping the forward guns in action.'
