War service: Western Front Embarked Sydney, 7 October 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 21 November 1916. Proceeded overseas to France, 20 December 1916; joined 13th Bn, in the field, 2 January 1917. Admitted to 4th Australian Field Ambulance, 15 February 1917 (scabies); rejoined Bn, 1 March 1917. Wounded in action, 11 April 1917 (gun shot wound, left thigh and right leg), and admitted to 56th Casualty Clearing Station, and then to 49th Casualty Clearing Station; transferred to No 1 Australian General Hospital, Rouen, 16 April 1917; to England, 30 April 1917, and admitted to 1st Birmingham War Hospital, 1 May 1917; transferred to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 22 June 1917; discharged on furlough, 25 June 1917, to report to No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 11 July 1917.
