Military Medal 'For skilful and gallant handling of the Lewis Gun Section at MOUQUET QUARRY on the 26th August, 1916, when he maintained his guns in action in the face of heavy shell and machine gun fire. The fire of his guns was most effective and inflicted heavy casualties on the enemy especially about 54, in cooperation with our Stokes Guns. He set a particularly good example to his men.'
