Transferred to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford (date not recorded); discharged on furlough, 26 January 1917, to report to No 1 Command Depot, Perham Downs, 10 February 1917.

Proceeded overseas to France, 6 August 1917; rejoined Bn, in the field, 26 August 1917.

Wounded in action, 9 October 1917 (gun shot wound, shoulder), andadmitted to 64th Field Ambulance; transferred same day to 37th Casualty Clearing Station; to Ambulance Train, 10 October 1917, and admitted to 1st Australian General Hospital, Rouen, 11 October 1917. Transferred to England, 23 October 1917, and admitted to Bath Hospital, 24 October 1917: wound severe). Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Malta', 31 July 1918 (gun shot wound, right shoulder); disembarked Melbourne, 25 September 1918, for onward travel to Sydney; discharged (medically unfit), Sydney, 17 October 1918.
