'On the 15th April at about 8.30 a.m. at LAGNICOURT this N.C.O. with his bombing section of rifle grenadiers of 4 men were advancing through LAGNICOURT village. On the right of the village a strong point was discovered, a trench about 20 yards long, Lance Corporal THACKERY at once commenced to attack with rifle grenade fire and by his initiative and energetic action made the place ............ and forced the garrison of 25 to surrender to him. Continuing his advance along the village he came across some more of the enemy strongly entrenched. By swift decided action he inflicted casualties and forced the remainder to surrender.'
