Admitted to Military Hospital, Chatham (bullet wound, right eye, neck, penetrated skull, right forearm), 30 August 1916. Admitted to 2nd Auxiliary Hospital, Southall (loss of eye), from AIF Depots, Tidworth, 1 April 1917; taken on strength, 2nd Australian Auxiliary Hospital, from 4th Bn, 21 August 1917. Commenced return to Australia on board Transport A 32, 5 November 1917. Discharged (loss of eye), 5 February 1918.
