Military Medal 'At BROODSEINDE RIDGE east of YPRES on 4th October, 1917, PTE. THOMAS set a splendid example of courage and initiative in being the first of his party to attack enemy pill-boxes. His dash prevented an enemy machine gun coming into action. His coolness under heavy enemy fire greatly inspired his comrades.'
