Military Medal 'For consistent good work and able handling of his gun in his action especially on 26th August, 1916, during an enemy counter-attack on MOUQUET FARM, when he succeeded in bringing his gun into action at about 90 yards range, driving the enemy back with heavy losses into our Machine Gun fire. Later in the same day he succeeded in blowing up an enemy bomb dump.'
