Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 15 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 21 March 1916.Wounded in action, 29 July 1916 (shrapnel wound, hip); admitted to 3rd Canadian General Hospital, Boulogne, 31 July 1916; transferred to England, 2 August 1916, and admitted to Middlesex War Hospital, Napsbury; to No 1 Command Depot, Perham Downs, 25 September 1916; granted furlough, 26 September 1916 to 27 October 1916.
