Temporarily attached to Mining Corps, 10 January 1917. Promoted Sergeant, 15 January 1917. Rejoined 49th Bn, in the field, 24 February 1917. Wounded in action, 4 April 1917 (gun shot wound, right arm), and transferred to Casualty Clearing Station; to 11th Stationary Hospital, Rouen, 6 April 1917; to 7th Convalescent Depot, 7 April 1917; to 11th Convalescent Depot, Buchy, 29 June 1917; rejoined Bn, in the field, 17 July 1917. On leave to Paris, 9 February 1918; rejoined Bn from leave, 16 February 1918.
