Distinguished Conduct Medal

'During the attack east of Mont St. Quentin, on the 2 September, 1918, when one of a Lewis gun crew, he advanced along a ridge, and jumping into a trench where there was a hostile post, shot two of the occupants, and pushing on to the next post, he shot three more of the enemy with a revolver.'
