War service: Egypt, Gallipoli Appointed Signalling Officer, 13th Bn, Gallipoli, 27 June 1915. Wounded in action, 22 August 1915 (gun shot wound, left eye and thigh); transferred to Mudros, 23 August 1915, and thence to England, and admitted to 3rd London General Hospital, Wandsworth, London, 12 September 1915. Commenced return to Australia from Portland on board HT 'Runic', 7 November 1915 (not fit for General Service: loss of left eye); appointment terminated (discharged), Sydney, 2 March 1916.
