Military Medal 'In the attack on STORMY TRENCH near GUEUDECOURT on night 4th/5th February, 1917, Sergeant THOMPSON was in charge of "A" Company's machine gun Section. He skilfully placed his guns in covering positions, while the trench was consolidated. He moved up and down the trench from gun to gun the whole night although it was extremely dangerous to move about under the heavy shell fire. He promptly repaired several stoppages and breaks in the guns. The example he set his men was invaluable.'
