Military Medal 'On the morning of 2nd April, 1917, when one of the piquet posts was being pushed forward on line North of LANGNICOURT in preparation for attack on NOREUIL this Non Commissioned Officer regardless of personal danger took forward his Lewis gun and with it engaged enemy snipers and a machine gun, thus covering the party who were digging the new post. Later in the day he observed the enemy beginning to mass in a sunken road about 500 yards from his post, and by the promptness and accuracy with which he brought fire to bear on them prevented the development of the movement. He set a splendid example throughout.'
