Military Medal 'For conspicuous courage in carrying messages from front line to rear during the attack by the enemy on 15th April near NOREUIL. They had continually to pass through heavy Machine Gun and rifle fire on both forward and back journeys. At one period after the telephone had broken down and when it was of the utmost importance to get information through, and the Machine Gun fire was something tremendous, these runners never faltered, though they had to pass overland and in full view of the enemy.'
