Military Medal

'On September 29th and 30th, 1918, East of RONSSOY, this stretcher bearer carried out his duties under heavy machine gun and shell fire. By his cheerful willingness and untiring energy under very trying circumstances, he helped to overcome a critical situation, when the congestion of American wounded at the Aid Post of the 39th Battalion threatened to become acute. Time after time he did long carries with no other thought that the wounded Americans would be evacuated as speedily as possible. By his gallantry and devotion to duty he set a splendid example to the other bearers.'
