Military Medal

'On the night of 19th September 1917, L/Cpl. THORNING idd very valuable work in assisting to lay the forming up tapes in front of GLENCORSE WOOD east of YPRES. During the attack on the 20th he had an observation post in a very exposed position, and although wounded in the head by a piece of shell he remained at his post, and sent back some very valuable information about our own forward troops and movements of the enemy.'
