Military Medal

'This N.C.O. is brought under notice for conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during operations near ZONNEBEKE on the 26th September, 1917. During the attack his Platoon Commander became a casualty. He took charge of his Section and handled it with greatest success. He personally was responsible for killing an entire German gun crew. He also captured a strong point that was holding up troops on our right. Throughout he displayed great gallantry and initiative and a complete disregard for all personal danger. He is strongly recommended for distinction.'
