War service: Egypt, Western Front Embarked Melbourne, 21 November 1917; disembarked Suez, 15 December 1917; embarked Alexandria, 8 January 1918; disembarked Taranto, Italy, 13 January 1918; disembarked Southampton, England, 24 January 1918,and marched into 6th Training Bn, Fovant. Admitted to Carrier Centre Hospital, Sutton Veny, 26 March 1918 (meningitis); marched in to No 1 Command Depot, Sutton Veny, from hospital, 9 May 1918. Proceeded overseas to France, 8 July 1918; taken on strength, 28th Bn, in the field, 14 July 1918. Wounded in action, 23 July 1918 (gassed), and admitted to 6th Australian Field Ambulance, and transferred to 5th Casualty Clearing Station, 26 July; to Ambulance Train, 25 July 1918, and admitted to 16th US General Hospital, Le Treport, 26 July 1918; discharged to Base Depot, Havre, 7 September 1918; rejoined Bn, in the field, 12 September 1918.
