War service: Egypt, Western Front Taken on strength, Divisional Ammunition Column, Egypt, 12 November1915, and posted to No 1 Section. Transferred to Divisional Ammunition Dump, 9 February 1916. Taken on strength, 21st Howitzer Brigade, 13 March 1916, and posted to Brigade Ammunition Column. Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 25 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 1 April 1916. Transferred to Trench Mortar Battery, 15 April 1916. Wounded in action, 10 August 1917 (gun shot wound, chest, penetrated, and neck), and admitted to 55th Field Ambulance, and transferred same day to 17th Casualty Clearing Station; to 55th General Hospital, Boulogne, 24 August 1917; to England, 1 September 1917, and admitted to 1st Southern General Hospital, Stourbridge Section, 1 September 1917.
