Wounded in action, 10 August 1917 (gun shot wound, chest, penetrated, and neck), and admitted to 55th Field Ambulance, and transferred same day to 17th Casualty Clearing Station; to 55th General Hospital, Boulogne, 24 August 1917; to England, 1 September 1917, and admitted to 1st Southern General Hospital, Stourbridge Section, 1 September 1917. Listed as seriously ill, 8 September 1917.

Died of wounds, and recurrent secondary haemorrhage, 19 September 1917.
