Military Medal 'On 4th October, East of YPRES, he displayed conspicuous gallantry in action. His Section was held up by heavy machine gun fire from an enemy strong-point, and private TRANTER on his own initiative worked his way round its flank, bombing the garrison, of which he killed five and captured about forty with their Machine gun. he was conspicuous throughout the action by his courage and resource.'
