Distinguished Service Order 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in temporary command of his battalion. He organized the defence of a captured position in such a way that all counter attacks were repulsed and heavy losses inflicted on the enemy. Though severely wounded, he remained on duty until the situation had cleared up.'
