War service: Western Front Embarked Brisbane, 17 November 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 30 January 1917, and marched in to 8th Training Bn, Hurdcott. Proceeded overseas to France, 14 May 1917; taken on strength, 15th Bn, in the field, 30 May 1917. Wounded in action, 27 September 1917 (gun shot wound, left buttock and genitals); admitted to No 2 Canadian General Hospital, 30 September 1917; transferred to England, 4 October 1917, and admitted to Bath War Hospital, 6 October 1917; transferred to 1st Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, 14 November 1917; discharged on furlough, 19 December 1917, to report to No 4 Command Depot, Hurdcott, 2 January 1918. Marched in to No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 18 January 1918. Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Osterley', 31 January 1918; disembarked Sydney, 15 April 1918, for onward travel to Brisbane; discharged, Brisbane, 25 May 1918.
