War service: Western Front Embarked Sydney, 24 January 1917; disembarked Devonport, England, 27 March 1917. and marched in to 14th Training Bn, Hurdcott. Proceeded overseas to France, 6 August 1917; taken on strength, 53rd Bn, in the field, 26 October 1917. On leave to the United Kingdom, 15 March 1918; rejoined Bn from leave, 4 April 1918. Wounded in action, 29 July 1918; remained at duty. Wounded in action (second occasion), 30 September 1918 (gun shot wound, face), and admitted to 132nd Field Ambulance; transferred same day to 12th Casualty Clearing Station; to Ambulance Train No 38, 1 October 1918, and admitted to 73rd General Hospital, Trouville, 2 October 1918; transferred to England, 15 October 1918, and admitted to 1st War Hospital, Birmingham (Rednal Section), 16 October 1918. Transferred to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 18 November 1918; discharged on furlough, 20 November 1918, to report to No 1 command Depot, Sutton Veny.
