Military Medal 'Lance Corporal TUCKERMAN went forward and reconnoitred a sap which was known to be occupied by the enemy during the attack made by the enemy on the position of this Battalion in front of REINCOURT on 15.5.17. The information brought back by him enabled the exact position of the enemy to be located and the counter attack to be at once launched. TUCKERMAN later faced the enemy fire in crossing a part of the line where men had already been killed, and brought his Company into communication with the Company on the right. he then advanced further along the sap held by the enemy and brought back the news that the enemy had retired. He did excellent work in consolidating the bombing block in the re-captured trench.'
