Military Medal

'For most conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty as a stretcher bearer during the operations near MORLANCOURT, South Wet of ALBERT on night 28/29th July 1918. This man was in charge of the bearer relay post established in our old front line and during the whole of the operations entailed great personal danger as all evacuations had to be made overland through an area heavily shelled by the enemy. His untiring efforts undoubtedly saved many lives and set a very fine example to all the men under his command.'
