Meritorious Service Medal

'Corporal ALLEN has, during the period from 25th February, 1918, to 16th September, 1918, served with his unit - until 25th March on the MESSINES front and for the remainder of the period on the front east of AMIENS - in the capacity of Orderly Room clerk. In this capacity he has worked most conscientiously and displayed uncommon administrative ability. During the rapid movement of the Division in the advance from VILLERS BRETONNEUX to the SOMME CANAL between the 8th and 31st August, he did particularly good and hard duty in keeping routine work up to date. he has always been an excellent example to others, especially by his devoted application to duty, and his work is deserving of special recognition.'
