War service: Egypt, Gallipoli, Western Front Embarked Sydney on HMAT 'Africa', 18 October 1914; embarked Alexandria on HMT 'Minnewaska' and proceed to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, 5 April 1915. Wounded and admitted to 1st Casualty Clearing Station, Gallipoli, 6 August 1915 (shrapnel wound, left arm); transferred to No 16 Stationary Hospital, Mudros, 9 August 1915; transferred to HS 'Ionian' for onward travel to Malta, 17 August 1915. Disembarked and admitted to St. David's Military Hospital, Malta, 22 August 1915; transferred to HS 'Garth Castle' for onward travel to United Kingdom, 5 September 1915. Admitted to Military Hospital, Fulham, 14 September 1915. Placed on Supernumerary list for being absent from Bn for over three months, Gallipoli, 6 December 1915.
