War service: Western Front 'This man was declared an illegal absentee on 3 May 1917. A signed statement dated 18 November 1917 was obtained from 2679 SGT G. Griffiths DCM 21 Bn (dec.) to the effect that while in England in company of a Cpl Bond, on or about 18 May 1917, he saw a person who resembled Sgt Tuxford.' (AWM Biographical Card).
