Military Medal 'The conduct of this Soldier is brought to notice for conspicuous gallantry, ability and devotion to duty in an attack on LE VERGUIER on the 18th September, 1918. This soldier assisted to lay Jump Off tapes which were within 100 yards of enemy position in places, and then guided attacking Companies into position. During the advance he acted as a Headquarters Runner and showed most conspicuous gallantry in delivering messages under heavy Machine Gun and Artillery Fire. His cheerfulness and readiness to volunteer for dangerous duties was evident throughout the operation and an example of the soldierly spirit to all ranks.'
