Proceeded overseas to France from 4th Overseas Training Bn, Folkestone, 16 January 1917; marched in to 4th Australian Division Base Depot, Etaples, France, 17 January 1917; marched out to unit, 20 January 1917. Admitted to 12th Field Ambulance and transferred to 4th Divisional Rest Station, 7 February 1917 (septic heel); rejoined unit from hospital, 1 March 1917. Reported as missing in action, 11 April 1917; now reported as a Prisoner of War: captured in Renicourt, 11 April 1917; repatriated and arrived in England, 1 December 1918. Marched in to No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, England, 6 January 1919.
