'R.Q.M.S. VARLEY has served continuously with his Battalion from February to September, 1918. During this most difficult period he has shown himself to be most capable and conscientious in the execution of his duty, particularly in the recent operations from 8th August, 1918 to September, 1918, whilst forwarding of supplies was of the utmost importance this W.O. was untiring in his work for his Battalion.'
