Proceeded to Gallipoli from Alexandria, 18 October 1915; attached to Reinforcements, 3rd Field Ambulance, 30 October 1915. Evacuated on the 'Glenart Castle', and admitted to No. 2 Auxiliary Hospital, Heliopolis, 11 December 1915. Transferred to 2nd Field Ambulance, 12 March 1916; to 6th Bn (at own request, to join brother in the same unit), 21 March 1916.

Proceeded from Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force. Wounded in action, France, 12 May 1916 (gun shot wound, thigh); evacuated to England, 1 June 1916. Rejoined unit from hospital, 24 December 1916.

To hospital, sick, 28 May 1917; rejoined unit, 9 June 1917.

Wounded in action, 23 August 1918 (gun shot wound wound, face, severe); evacuated to England, 25 August 1918; admitted to 1st Southern General Hospital, Edgbaston, 26 August 1918; transferred to Queen's Hospital, Sidcup, 9 September 1918; discharged from hospital, 22 October 1918.
