Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry in action and devotion to duty as a Battalion runner. On 21st April, 1918, near RIBEMONT, this soldier carried an important message from his Battalion to the Battalion in the front line on the left, under heavy enemy shell fire. he was wounded in the leg when some distance from his destination and although bleeding freely continued on and delivered his message under great difficulty and suffering. He was exhausted on arrival at his destination and was immediately evacuated. he displayed remarkable courage and absolute devotion to duty, and set a splendid example to his comrades. He delivered his message in time to be of utmost value.'
