Embarked from Fremantle, 31 March 1916; disembarked Suez, ex HT 'Shropshire'; marched out from 3rd Training Bn, Perham Downs and proceeded overseas to France, 31 July 1916; marched in to No 1 Australian Division Base Depot, Etaples, 2 August 1916; taken on strength 11th Bn, 13 August 1916.

Wounded in action and admitted to 5th Field Ambulance and transferred to 3rd Casualty Clearing Station, 6 May 1917 (gun shot wound, right ankle); admitted to 26th General Hospital, 7 May 1917; to England, 10 May 1917, and admitted to 3rd London General Hospital, Wandsworth. Discharged on furlough, 27 June 1917, to report to No 3 Command Depot, Hurdcott, 11 July 1917.

Admitted to Fovant Hospital, 2 August 1917 (foreign body in leg); discharged to No 3 Command Depot, Hurdcott, 20 August 1917; marched in to Overseas Training Brigade, Perham Downs, 3 October 1917; admitted to Delhi Military Hospital, Tidworth, 11 October 1917 (foreign body in ankle, old wound); discharged, 18 October 1917, and marched in to No 1 Command Depot, Sutton Veny, 19 October 1917; marched in to Overseas Training Brigade, Deverill, 8 November 1917. Proceeded overseas to France, 23 November 1917, and marched in to No 1 Australian Division Base Depot, Havre, 24 November 1917; rejoined unit, 30 November 1917.

Wounded in action and admitted to 3rd Australian Field Ambulance, 25 August 1918 (gun shot wounds, face, knee and hand); to 12th American General Hospital, Rouen, 26 August 1918; to England, 31 August 1918, and admitted to Beaufort War Hospital, Bristol, 1 September 1918; discharged on furlough, 5 November 1918, to report to No 4 Command Depot, Hurdcott, 19 November 1918.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Orontes', 20 December 1918; arrived Fremantle, 26 January 1919 and admitted to 8th Australian General Hospital; discharged medically unfit, 12 May 1919.
