Military Medal 'Near VILLERET during our attack on the Brown Line on 18th September, 1918, this N.C.O. showed most conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. This N.C.O. had charge of the right flank platoon of his Battalion. Being on higher ground than the Battalion on the left he was able to gain good observation of enemy points of resistance on left Battalion sector. He led his platoon with great gallantry and skill against three such successive points and although his platoon suffered heavy casualties from shell and machine gun fire cleared them all, capturing or killing the garrisons. His tactical appreciation and prompt action materially assisted the advance. He was also of great assistance in maintianing liaison under very difficult circumstances.'
