Military Medal 'On the night of the 3rd/4th May 1917, Sapper WALKINSHAW was engaged in consolidating work in the Hindenburg Line, and displayed much personal courage. On his own initiative he conducted the party on to the work, which was situated in the heaviest part of the barrage. He placed the men on their tasks and through his personal example was mainly responsible that this sector of the work was completed. Sapper WALKINSHAW has on other occasions showed great bravery and coolness under the heaviest of fire.'
