When the N.C.O. in charge of a bombing party was wounded Sergeant WALTER rushed forward under heavy machine gun fire, caught up the wounded man and was carrying him to shelter when he himself was slightly wounded and the N.C.O. killed in his arms. He, however brought the body of the wounded N.C.O. back to our lines, and taking command of the Section led the men forward with great skill against the enemy, dislodging them, and gaining their section of trench under dispute.'
