Military Medal 'At WESTHOEK RIDGE 20th September, 1917. For devotion to duty. He was of the most valuable assistance as a runner and guide throughout the whole attack. When during a heavy shelling by the enemy, he brought rations and water through to the front gun positions, making three trips in all. He assisted in digging out the crew of a gun team which had been buried by shell fire.'
