Military Medal 'On August 11th 1918, during our attack on the BLUE LINE, whilst one of the platoons of our left company was engaged in mopping up along the trench, the N.C.O. leading the party was killed and, owing to the enemy's stubborn resistance, our party was held up. Realising the danger of the position Private WASTELL prompty ran to the head of the bombing team and led the platoon for over three hundred yards, completely dislodging the enemy from that section of the trench and inflicting heavy casualties upon them. His initiative, courage and splendid example at a critical time were undoubtedly responsible for the success of this part of the operation.'
