Military Cross

'For conspicuous gallantry and resoure. When an advance was being considerably impeded by artillery and machine gun fire, he rushed his gun into action in the open, and in a very short time destroyed the hostile machine gun. Later he was severely wounded in an attempt to assist a wounded man under heavy fire. He set a splendid example of courage and determination.'
